Following RogerVoice mobile application that allows deaf and hearing impaired to have a real conversation, Be My Eyes app helps blind people in their daily lives by connecting them with a network of sighted volunteer from around the world.
How it works
When a blind person requests assistance all she has to do is start filming or take a picture of something she has difficulty in seeing (the expiry date on a product package, a letter, their medication or anything else). A notification is then sent to the volunteer who can read and describe what he sees to the blind person. The live video connection also help blind people with navigating new surroundings, thus making their life more enjoyable and easier every day.
This is a precious, noble and completely free gift that one can offer right now to people with disabilities. It has been said that eyes are the windows to the soul, so why wait?
